What the standard asks
NFPA 80 requires fire door assemblies to be inspected and tested at least annually by a qualified person, with a written record kept and made available to the authority having jurisdiction.
The inspection covers the door, frame, hardware, glazing, gaps, closer, coordinator, latching, signage and the absence of field modifications, with each item recorded as pass or fail.
Deficiencies must be repaired without delay. Healthcare facilities also answer to the Joint Commission and CMS, which survey against the same requirement.

- How often does NFPA 80 require fire door inspections?
- At least annually, and after any repair or alteration to the assembly. The inspection must be performed by a qualified person and the record kept for the AHJ.
- How long do we keep the inspection records?

- Is this the same as the UK fire door check?
